www.dailypioneer.com/city/4423-abvp-nsui-pick-candidates-with-caste-factors-in-mind.htmlABVP, NSUI pick candidates with caste factors in mind Both ABVP and NSUI have picked up candidates keeping in mind the caste based vote bank. Candidates representing the Jat and Gujjar community, belonging to the outer Delhi, East Delhi and South Campus have been picked up to ensure that they get the community and area votes. Five out of the eight candidates belonging to the two major contending parties have taken re admission just to contest the elections. Three out of the eight candidates of both ABVP and NSUI have taken admission in MA Buddhist studies to contest the DUSU Elections. In the ABVP panel, the presidential candidate Neha Singh who is a graduate from Aurobindo College and has also served as secretary in the college during her graduation days took admission in Buddhist Studies to contest elections. Deepak Bansal, the Joint Secretary candidate of ABVP also took admission in MA Buddhist Studies to join the students’ politics. Bansal who belongs to Trans Yamuna region is expected to get voters from the area. “We expect about 25 to 30 thousand votes coming from east Delhi because of Bansal’s presence in the area,” said Sanjay Kumar Media coordinator ABVP. Parag Sharma of NSUI has been trying for the ticket for the past three years. She had initially taken admission in the Law Faculty and now in MA Buddhist studies to contest the DUSU election. She is contesting the election for the Secretary seat from NSUI. “A majority of the students who take admission in Buddhist Studies want to be a part of student politics. A candidate with very low merit also get admission in this course and the candidate gets enough time to participate in the political affairs,” said a Supreme Court lawyer Rajpal Singh. Singh was active in DUSU politics before he started practicing and has been closely monitoring the university affairs. Out of the four candidates contesting the election from the NSUI panel, two belong to the Jat Community and one represents the Gujjar Community. In the DUSU election arena, Jats and Gujjars have been bigger vote banks and both the parties hope that they will be able to bring the votes from outer Delhi area. Vikas Choudhary the Vice Presidential candidate from ABVP, a student of BA Political Science at Ram Lal Anand College has been given a ticket to bring the Jat voters. NSUI has also pitched three candidates from the Jat and Gujjar community. NSUI presidential candidate Ajay Chhikara, Vice President Candidate Bhupender Choudhari and candidate for Joint Secretary Ashish Choudhary all belong to this community. “The candidates belonging to these two communities have a strong back up from their areas. Interestingly contestants belonging to both these communities write Choudhary as their second name to get the votes from their community,” added Singh. Chhikara and Ashish Choudhary are both students of Law Faculty and the party hopes that along with the Jat factor they will also get the Law faculty voters.

Vikas Chaudhary (VP) is not a Jat he is a Yadav. that makes both VP and secretary with a common name "vikas yadav".
