An 18-year-old Gaurav Bidhuri became the first Indian boxer to assure himself of a medal at the 21st President's Cup by advancing to the semifinals today while five others entered the quarterfinals in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Playing his first senior international tournament, Gaurav, a bronze-medallist at the National Games held earlier this year, edged past Muhamed Faud of Malaysia 8-7 to make the last-four stage of the light fly weight 49kg division. "He is playing his first tournament but he has been confident in his approach. It was a tense bout but Gaurav kept his calm and fought very well," said coach Jagdeep Hooda from Jakarta.
Also, V Santhosh Kumar beat Korea's Lee Yong Hee 13-11 to make the last-eight stage in the light welter weight 64kg division. Another Indian boxer to make the quarterfinals was Lakhbir Singh, who knocked out Vietnam's Pruong Dingh Hoang in the third round of his opening bout.
Their wins take the total number of Indian boxers in the quarterfinals to five after Chhote Lal Yadav (56kg), Santosh Harijan (52kg) and Jasveer Singh (81kg) also booked their berths.

Gaurav Bidhuri, however, had to settle for a bronze after losing his semifinal bout to Ian Clark Bautista of the Philipines 5:12.

Delhi's Priyanka Priyadarshini set the first individual record of the day by shattering Ambica Iyengar's eight-year-old record in 100m breaststroke. Priyanka clocked 1:19.31 in the heats to break the previous record of 1:19.50. She returned in the evening to improve her record 1:17.77 in the final.
She is just 14 n now eyes on Olympic. Since early child hood she continues broke many records. this time too a national record of 8 years is broken by her.

पहलवान वरुण मंडार गुर्जर का जन्म खिलाडियों की नर्सरी कही जाने वाले उत्तर प्रदेश के बागपत जिले के गुर्जर मंडार बहुमूल्य गाव बली मे हुआ था ! पहलवानी इन्हें विरासत मे मिली है क्योकि इनके दादा भी पहलवान थे उसके बाद इनके पिता चौधरी करतार सिंह अपने जामने के नामची पहलवानों में से थे ! इनके चाचा पवन ( देविंदर ) नमी पहलवान है जिन्होंने भारत भीम का अवार्ड जीता था इनके अंकल बलराज पहलवान भारत केसरी रह चुके है ! आस्ट्रलिया मे हुए कोम्मन्वेअल्थ गेम इन्होने ९६ किलो वर्ग मे रजत पदक जीतकर अपने देश , अपने जिले , और अपने गाव का नाम इतिहास मे दर्ज करा दिया है . और अपनी गुर्जर बरदारी का नाम रोशन किया है ! इससे पहले भी किया है नाम रोशन वरुण ने २००८ मे है जूनियरस्टेट कुश्ती प्रतियोगिता मे प्रथम स्थान प्राप्त किया था , सन २००९ मे सेनिओर नेशनल वर्ग मे दूसरा स्थान प्राप्त किया था, सन २०१० मे सीनियर नेशनल वर्ग मे तीसरा स्थान प्राप्त किया था ये ही नही रूस और चीन में भी ये पहलवान अपने जलवे दिखा चूका है !आगरा मे हुई ५६ वी पुरुष कुश्ती प्रतियोगिता मे गाज़ियाबाद के विजय पाल यादव को धुल चटा कर उत्तर प्रदेश केशरी का ख़िताब आपने नाम किया ! झारखण्ड मे ५६ वी फ्री स्टायल कुश्ती प्रतियोगिता मे रजत पदक जीता ! जब वरुण ने हरियाणा केशरी को हराया तो हरियाणा के मंत्री नै इनाम के रूप मे इन्हें १०० किलो देशी घी दिया. wikien3.appspot.com/wiki/User%3AVarun_mandaryoutu.be/h79fz_KVgeIyoutube.com/varun_pahalwan |
