If the above version is correct that proves that Panna found refuge for the son of Rana Sanga Udai Singh under the shelter of Gujjars. Later these areas were awarded by Akbar to the desndents of Rana Sanga who sought his services.
This confirms the fact that Udaipur is named after Gujjar Ruler Udai Singh Nagari and the son of Rana Sanga Udai Singh ( named same as Udai Singh Nagari) only found refuge there. Later word Nagari was removed from Indian translations of Babarnama to steal the Gujjar history
The following historical records confirms the fact that Bagar region having its capital at Nagda ( Udaipur ) was ruled by by Nagari Gujjar and not Seesodias who were installed only during the reign of Akbar.
1.THE AIN I AKBARI BY ABUL FAZL 'ALLAMI (ri, Volume 2, chpt. 167 ) confirms the facts that Udaipur was under Gujjars ruled territories and later during the Akbar Empire was ruled by Seesodia, the clan to Sanga.
See the text from the book: In the vicinity of Mórá and Mangréj is a state called Pal through which runs the river Mahendri towards the Gujarát side. It has a separate ruler who resides at Dúngarpúr. On the Málwah side is Bánswálah (Bánswára) and that too has a separate chief. Each of them has a force of 5,000 horse and 10,000 foot, and both are of the Sesódiah clan. The rulers were of the Ráná's family, but for some time past it has been otherwise.
2.The Memoirs of Babur, Volume 2
The troops that were directly under his command were disposed in the following manner: Salâh ud dîn, Governor of Raisen and Sârangpûr, was in possession of a territory that could furnish 30,000 horsemen; Râwal Udai Singh Nâgari had 12,000 horsemen; Hasan Khan Mewâti, Governor of Mewât, 12,000; Bahâdur Hemladuri, 4,000; Sattervi Kachji, 6,000; the Governor of Barmul, Parm-Deo, and Mirta, 4,000; Birsingh Deo Jehân, 4,000; Mahmûd Khan, son of ...
... remainder, becoming a prey to confusion, were scattered about the plain like grains of sand. Hasan Khan Mewâti, who had been hit by a matchlock ball, was brought down and killed. Many persons of note among the infidels, such as Rawal Udai Singh, Mânikchand Chauhân, Rai Chanderbhân, Dilbes Rai, Gangûr, and Gûren Singh, blocked with their corpses the road of destruction, while thousands of the baser sort were trampled under our horses’ hoofs. [N.B.—I have thought it advisable to omit ...
The Memoirs of Babur, Volume 2, chpt. 63
... ten infidels, who, unlike the ten blessed, unfolded the misery-freighted banners, which mark them out for futuretorment and wailing, possessed many dependants and armies, and wide-extended pergannas. As, for instance, Silâhed-dîn possessed thirty thousand horse; Râwal Ûdai Sing Nâgari, ten thousand horse; Medini Rai, ten thousand; Hassan Khan Mewâti, twelve thousand horse; Bârmal Îdari, four thousand horse; Narpat Hâda, seven thousand; Sattervi Kachi, six thousand; Dharm Deo, ...

Hassan Khan Mewâti was enrolled in the band of the dead by a matchlock shot, and in like manner many of these bewildered and misled rebels, the leaders of that army, were struck by arrows or musket-shot, and closed their lives; of the number, Râwal Udai Sing, before named, who was Prince (Wali) of the country of Udaipûr, and had twelve thousand horse; and Rai Chanderbhân Chuhân, who had four thousand horse, and Mânikchand Chuhân, and Dilpat Rai, who were masters of four thousand horse, and Gangû, and Karm ...

There was a common say in Rajasthan that "Asli Rajput vo ha jisne Gujari ka dudh piya ho"...Its real meaning in ancient days was the prince who has been given birth by the Gujar queen of the king (there used to be several queens of different background/ castes....) is the actual worrior and " Rajputra" and naturally has claim on the rajya/ state .
By the passage of time the influential / kuleen / imperial families of Gurjars started calling themselves " Bad Gujar" or "Bade Gujar"which is still a respected clan among Rajputs. For example the king of Alwar was of "Bad Gujar" stock....Later these imperial families of Gujars differentiated themselves from the common Gujars by adopting different sirnames and thus a new community namely Rajpur emerged ........!!
On the same analogy the imperial Kunbi (kisaan) and other caste groups (including Gujars) of Maharashtra made subgroups of 96 kula / clans which later started calling themselves "Maratha" ........otherwise there was no community namely "Rajput & Maratha" in the old texts....!! The origin of "Patel" sirname in Gujrat can also be understood in this way...!
In later days the old saying "Asli Rajput vo jis ne Gujari ka Dudh piya ho" and " Gujari ko Dudh jaise Naahari (lioness) ka Dudh " was distorted and lost its real meaning and actual tradition and as a tokenism the ruler class started having Gujar woman to nurse the prince .....!! As a result a new subgroup "dhay-bhai (Dhawai) emerged among Gujars of Rajasthan ....they were having respectable position in the state, big haveli and large tract of lands . The Dhay-Bhai (Dhawai) were treated as brothers of kings being son of Dhai-maa. In Bharatpur, Udaipur, Karauli, Jaipur still have big havelis and the area is known as "Dhau pasa" . The Dhawai have similar gotra as other Gujars and inter marry with common Gujars also.

Dear Satyendra, You are also being carried away by the wrong stories spread by the vassals of Mughals and Britishers to malign Gujjars. Bad Gujjars are Gujjars from Baran. Gujjars of Alwar were not bad Gujjars but Gujjars. In case you are right please give the supporting historical evidence but not the stories told by the bards of the vassals of Mughals. One Anup Singh Gujjar from Agra killed a lion and saved the life of Shahjahan while Shahajahan was on a hunting spree. He was offered the services Mughals which he unfortunately accepted. He was probably unaware before joining the services of Mughals that it was mandatory for all the Mughal servants to offer their females to Mughals, which Anup flatly refused. The Gujjars of Anup Singh clan of Baran, were executed as a result all over the places around Agra. Many of them became Sikarwars and Rajputs to save their skin. Among Gujjars there is such thing as Big or small Gujjar. My father told me that "Biradari so Barabari" means everybody equal in the community. Even Kushans, Khatana ( of Emperor Vijai Singh fame) and Gujjar Pratihars, who were called the lord of Universe never considered them bigger than other Gujjars and that was the reason for their success. Regarding Panna Dhai, she was a Rajput woman of Kheechi tribe. Among Gujjars also a similar clan Chechi exists but Chechi is not a branch of Chauhans among Gujjars but Chauhan is a brach of Chechis. Chechis, The rulers of Cherchan in Central area, the founder of many places like Tashkent ( Oroginal Chach Khand) and Chechanya is a very large tribe and Chauhans are part of it.Panna Dhai found refuge for young Udai Singh, the son of Rana Sanga, under the protection of Nagari Gujjar rulers of Bagar region ruling from capital Nagada ( present day Udaipur) , and that may be reason of the confusion. If you read Akbarnama you will find that the Jamindar of Dungarpur was waiting for Akbar for six to take his daughter to his Harams and that is the reason of Gujjars to loose these territories to Mughals and given to the new found relatives of Akbar in present day Rajasthan known as Gujarat in that period of time. Dhabi (Dhabai) is very old gotra of Gujjars and listed among the 36 Royal clans of India in Kumar Pal Charita, a Gujjar Solanki king, having imperial sway over many regions, ruling from the kingdom of Prabhas Patan Gujarat. Prabhas was another name of Gujjar Samrat Mihir Bhoja Mahan and Prabhas Patan is named after him by Gujjar Solankis in similar manner like Delhi was named Mehrauli ( Mihir+ Awali) by Gujjar Tanwars rulers of Delhi. I have added numbers to many false fabricated stories of Indian history written during the slavery period of India. These stories

Plesase read the sentence correctly as follows in my earlier post.
"Among Gujjars there is no such thing as Big or small Gujjar. ".
Kumar Pal Charita is the Memoirs of Gujjar Solanki Samrat Kumar Pal who was at war with many of his kingdoms of his own clan like Gujjar Chauhans, Gujjar Parmars etc. to establish his supremacy over others after the fall of Gujjar Pratihar Empire.
One may find more information about Dungarpur is Akbarnama and Jamindar of that place.
The basis of all false stories is Prithvi Raj Raso which is also considered by Col. Todd as base to his stories. Actually Prathviraj Raso was written in 17th. Century during slavery period of the Country and well after 500 years of the time of Prithvi Raj Chauhan, the last Gujjar king of Chuhan Gotra of Gujjars.

Simila false stories are being spread even today. I have read in many news that Divya Singh, the wife of erstwhile Jat MP Yashvedra Singh is from Gujjar tribe which is not true. What I have found from the various websites that she is probably is a Rajput from very very small princely state and there was no princely state of Gujjars other than Samthar since all the other Gujjar kingdoms founded after the fall of Mughal Empire were captured dismantled by the Britishers for the resaon not to allow any probable threat in future to their Empire.
Niharika Raje is certainly is a Gujjar and she is married to the son of Vasundhara Raje more likely because of her relation to Gwalior family. Probably her mother is the sister of the wife of Madhav rao Sindhia, the brother of Vasudhara Raje.
Here also the innocent Gujjars of Rajasthan are being made fools to take their votes. I have not seen, the son of Vasudhara as an extra ordinary MP in any of his public appearance and Gujjars should not vote for him just for his relation. Even an illeterate person from the community will prove better than him for the over upliftment of the community and for the region of Jhalawad.

Very gud posts AP Singh Ji, But I belive that Panna Dhay was a Gurjari. I have confirmed it from many a sources that She was a Gurjar of Chenchi gotra. This Chenchi surname is not be mistook as the Main Chechi (also called "Naikadi" to differentiate from the Chenchi chauhans), which is an offshoot of the chauhan gurjar clan and was eariler known as khenchi Chauhans.

Gujjar Chechi never use the Chauhan Gotra. Chauhan are a branch of Chechis among Gujjars and not vice-versa. Chechi is Gotra of Gujjar Kushan Era and certainly must be one of the main five branches of Gujjars ( written as Yuechis in chinese literature). Please cite your sources and discuss it in the forum. Please dont quote the stories spread by the bards of vassals of Mughals and Britishers. She may be a Rajput woman of Gujjar stock like Rana Sanga but certainly Rana Sanga was not a Gujjar. Chittor went in to the hands of Rajputs from the hands of Gujjars when Maldev Hada was made its governor by Allauddin Khilji. Later son in law of Maldev ( married to his widowed daughter) , Hammir ( The first riler of Seesodia clan ) from Seesod village took over at Chittor whoo was also a Rajput. His descendents are called Seesodia since they were Seesod village. Later they have adopted the title of Rana which was exclusively used by the Gujjar only before. That is sure that Panna Dhai found shelter among Gujjar rulers of Bagar region.

Very gud posts AP Singh Ji, But I belive that Panna Dhay was a Gurjari. Maldev Hada was made its governor by Allauddin Khilji. I am sorry, It was Maldev Songadha and not Maldev Hada , the first Muslim Governor of Chittor.
