Ghaziabad and Baghpat has lot of gurjar villages.
Ghaziabad MP seat has 20 % Gurjar Population.
In Baghpat area around Khekra , Loni are all Gurjar dominated.
Noida Lok sabha Seat------
The Gautam Budh Nagar (GBN) constituency constitutes of four Assembly constituencies. Of these Dadri and Jewar falls in the jurisdiction of Gautam Budha Nagar district while Khurja and Sikandrabad are in district Bulandshahar.
Noida, Greater Noida, Dadri ,Sikandrabad and Jewar is considered a Gujjar belt. Gujjars constitute 15 percent of voters in this constituency. Scheduled Castes (SC) are around 14 per cent among which Jatav and Non- Jatav including Balmiki are in equal numbers. Thakurs are either Rajputs, Rawa Rajput, the Brahmins are only 5.32 percent and almost equally distributed in entire constituency. Muslims have a share of 7.6 per cent and mainly reside in Khurja and Sikandrabad. After delimitation a new seat Assembly segment Noida has been carved out from existing Dadri seat.
All the four Assembly seats of GBN are with BSP among which two MLAs are Gujjars and one each from Thakur and Brahmin community.
Gujjars and Thakurs were earlier considered the vote bank of BJP from this seat but this time as two Gujjar leaders and a Thakur is already is fray the caste equations have become more complicated. The complexity of the social engineering can be assessed by the fact that the Samajwadi Party was in dilemma about deciding their candidate. Earlier, Madan Chauhan was awarded ticket but recently he was dropped and the name of Narendra Bhati was announced.
The main agenda of this constituency is development while winning strategy is social engineering. But the candidates are projecting the development in Noida and Greater Noida from their own perspectives. The BSP candidate Surendra Nagar is urging support of the masses on various projects initiated by the State Government and for overall development of the constituency in future while his rivals are projecting the issue of land acquisition. The firing on farmers of village Ghori-Bachera on August 13 last in which six farmers were killed, top the agenda of BJP, SP and Congress.
Although Nagar, BSP candidate, is trying all means to neutralize the effect of firing on farmers but the villagers want to keep it an issue in the ensuing General Elections. The villagers of Ghori-Bachera, a Thakur dominated village, along with four other villages have openly declared to vote against the BSP, the ruling party in the State. A Mahapanchayat of villagers, protesting against land acquisition, is likely to be convened on March 31 to decide the future course of action. Corruption in the State Government and local administration, increasing crime rate in Noida and Greater Noida are also the poll planks in this General Election from this constituency.
