Friends the history of our community has not been brought to the limelight.do'nt you feel that the history we know today is manipulated by the policymakers nd researchers. If more intellectuals will get into this research we definitely would come to know we are a royal commune.i hope one day a clear picture of our history will appear before us.

Shivaji Maharaj is certainly from Mewad. Maratha bakhar (historical records) refer to the family as Sisodia. Maharaj spoke Mewadi langauge. He is quoted as saying "मन्नए लागे महारो मरण आयो" to Ram Singh son of Raja Jai Singh who was a Mughal Sardar. Maharaj said this at Aurang's court at Delhi when Maharaj overthrew Aurang's thaal offering cheap jewellery after Maharaj was made to stand in a row below his rank behind a Mughal general he had defeated. So Maharaj knew Mewadi. Why? Obviously due to Rajasthani origins - whether Gurjar or Rajput no idea. As both castes are Kshatriya and closely interlinked with common surnames like Chouhan. Prataprao Gurjar was an important Maratha general. The surname GURJAR or GUJJAR still exists among Marathas today. They are purely marathi speaking. I myself come from a clan who trace their origin to Rajasthan. Our gotra are same. Our food is still similar to Rajasthani good. The laal Maas is Tamda rassa here and safed Maas is pandurang rassa of Marathas. Whether from Sisodia the ancestors of Maharaj changed their surname to Bainsla or Bhonsla is not established. Maybe they were Bainsla originally. But their origin was Chittod in Rajasthan. There are lakhs of Rajasthani surnames in Maharashtra like Porwal Paudwal, Gajmal Toradmal among Marathi today. There is a definite Rajasthani connection.

We should not accept Shivaji as a Gurjar. The clan of Shivaji i.e. Bhonsle relates themselves to Sisodia Rajputs. This can be confirmed by any Maratha historian. I have found a tendency among our Gurjar brothers to relate every famous person to our community without any substantial evidence. WE SHOULD CALL ONLY THOSE PERSONS GURJARS, WHO THEMSELVES FEEL PROUD TO CALL THEMSELVES GURJARS. Rgds // Vikram Singh (Gurjar)
