Chandila Gotra of Gujjars:
Here is the inscription of Chandella rulers Yashovaraman whi is written as Sathjvaro Gurjjar-anam in the Khajuraho inscription.
This was probably a branch of Gurjjar Pratiharsof Kannuaj to whom they originally paid allegiance as their viceroys of Kalinjara region.
One Baba Gujjar after the fall of Gujjar Chandila kingdom went to present day Punjab region and founded a village as Gujjarwal. His descendents are called Gujrals and they are of Chandila Gujjar origin.

Origin of word Gurjjar and Gurjjar GotrasThere are two very Important words found among various Gujjar Gotras. 1. Har, means lord, the Lord Shiva and it was used for the kings. Har is a very important word of Gojari language. All the old folksongs of Gujjar females also ends with this word. It is also used by Gujjars to pay respect for elders in place of "Jee" like when a Gujjar boy mention the name of his uncle in his absense it will be called as Kaka Har ( Means respected uncle). The Origin of word Gurjjar is also having word Har. That is Gurjar+ Har means the lords of Gurjara Desa.Pratihar was a title of Gujjar Emperors. It is made of two words. i. Prithvi (means the Universe) and ii. Har (used for the Lord Shiva as the lord of Universe). Hence Gurjjar Pratihar means the Gurjjar, the lord of Universe. This fact is also supported by the inscription of Gujjar Chauhans of Sakambari, When the Gurjar Pratihar Emperor Dev Pal visited their capital in person in 954AD.. The other Gujjar Gotra having Har after their Gotra are the following. 1 . Dor The variations of Dor are other Gujjar gotras are Dod, Dodhi, Dedhe,Doi etc.). These Gujjars were lords of the area covering present day Bulandshar and Aligarh region which used to give two yeilds in a year and hence the rulers of the area were called as were called Do+Har. 2. Tinwar: ( The variation of this Gujar Gotras are Tanwar, Tomar,Toor,Tuar etc.). These Gujjars were lords of the area covering present day Haryana region which used to give three yeilds in a year and hence the rulers of the area were called as Tin+Har= Tanwar. Chahar: ( The variation of this are Cahwad, Chawda,Chawdi,Chad,Char etc. These Gujjars were lords of the area covering present day Gujarat region which used to give four yeilds in a year and hence the rulers of the area were called as Car+Har= Chahar. Lor: It is made by two words. Loh+Har. The Rulers of Lohkot. The fort was near present day lahore. The Levas are the same as Lohar.Varajjar ( Bajjad, Bajjar, Bajjad are the variations) ) and Nagar ( Nagde, Nagdi, Nagri,Nagree are the other variations) gotra among Gujjars is also very old atleast 1000 year old and both are the same. They were rulers of Bagad Pradesh and Nagda ( Naghavda) was their capital during the day of Gujjar Pratihar Empire. Samrat Mihir Bhoja appointed one Jay Bhat of Nagara of Varajjar Family as the Kot Pal ( of Gwalior fort during his rule. The fact that Varajjar and Nagar is same is also confirmed by the Babar in Babar Nama when he reffered Rawal Udai Singh Nagari as the ruler of Bagad Pradesh. Rawal Udai Singh Nagari moved his forces having 12000 of cavaliers from present day Udaipur to Khanwa to take the battle with Babar and sacrificed his life. Later Udai Singh, the father of Rana Pratap found refuge in Udaipur after he has to handover the keys of Chittor, to Sher Shah Suri. These vagadhar ( Varajjar) and Nagadahar (Nagar) Gujjars were the branch of Gujjars of Malwa who were later called Prithvihars and must have advanced to present day Bajaur, Vajirsthan ( Varajjarsthan), Nangarhar in Afgahistan and Pakistan and named these places after their own clan. Their armies must have advanced during the time Naga Bhatta the Great, the Grandfather of Gurjjar Emperor, Mihir Bhoja the Great. The other important word which is part of most of the Gurjjar Gotras is Rana and Gujjar Gotras like Khatana, Bhadana, Adhana,Chaprana etc. were the rulers of place named before Rana ( The King, Ruler) after the name of the place they ruled.

Mandhar ( variations are Mandahar, Mandar etc.) Gotra of Gujjars is also having word Har after the place Mandu.
They are probably branch of Gurjar Pratihars who ruled over Mandu on behalf of their Gujjar Pratihar overlords.

The Gujjar Pratihars Emperor Nagabhatta the Great after winning all the forts of India, immediately rushed to Sindh to chase the Arab invaders. ( Gwalior inscription).
His original kingdom was in Malwa including Vagad Pradesh present day of Rajsthan and Gujarat in India.
The Vagad Pradesh including the Nagharda valley ( which include Nagda in MP as well as Nagda of Udaipur in Rajsthan).
The rulers of Nagharda and Vagad Pradesh were cetainly from Gujjar Pratihar Gotra.
The branch ruling Nagharda were called Naghardahar ( other variations are Nagdi, Nagari,Nagar etc.).
The Branch ruling the remaining area of Vagad Pradesh were Called Vagadhar ( other variations are Bajjad, Bajjar, Bajad, Bajar etc).
The branch who became Emperor were called Prithvihars.
The other historical proof of my claim are as follows:
1. Smarat Mihir Bhoja Mahan appointed Kotpal ( the king of fort) of Gwalior fort from this family of Nagara bracnch of Varrajara family. 2. The Sahstrabahu ( Lord Vishnu) temples ( at Gwalior and Nagda, Udaipur were built by these Naghardhar Gujjars of Pratihar family.) The pohotos of both the temples can be searched and seen on internet. Now a days people call these temple as sas bahu temples. 3. Rawal Udai Singh Nagari ( see babarnama) was the last king of the this family of Nagda, Udaipur who sacrificed his life along with 12000 of cavaleirs in battle of Khanwa. 4. Parikshatgarh state in present day UP was founded by the descendents of Rawal Udai Singh Nagari after the fall of Mughal Empire. During the first war of Independence of 1957, This Gujjar fort was dismantled by the Britishers and converted to a Police station. ( see Imperial gazeteer). 5. The Nangarhar province of Afghanistan is certainly named after Nagharda) branch of Gujjar Pratihars. Bajaur is also named after the Varrajar branch of Gujjar Pratihars and Potohar is certainly named after Pratihar branch of this family. Here Har means God Nagharda and Bajaur are the regions and Nagar and Varajjar means the lord of these regions. Potohar ( the other variations are Prithvihar, Pratihar, Padiyar, Parihar) was certainly the resindence of Gujjar Pratihar Emperors.
The king Jai Pal who ruled part of present day Afghanistan from lahore was the real son of Samrat Mahipal and was the real brother of Last Gujjar Emperor Dev Pal of Kannauj, who was killed killed by one of other Gujjar clan, the Gujjar Guhilas when he went suppress the rebellion of Gujjar Chauhans of Sakambri.

1. Nagda, the capital of the Nagara Gujjars is also surrounded by the lakes. In fact the real Sanskrit name of the place is Nagahrada which means in Hindi means a lake inhabited by snakes or serpentdemons . In Gojari Language the Gotra is also called Nagahradi ( Nagahradihar and thus Nagar).
2. Rawal Udai Singh Nagahradi was the last Gujjar ruler of place. It is a fabricated history by the bards that he divided his kingdom of Bagar in two parts as Dungarpur and Banswara. Later after his death his territories were taken Askaran who was descendent of Rana Sanga, who fled from the battle of Khanwa and thus saved his territories from others.
THE AIN I AKBARI BY ABUL FAZL 'ALLAMI (ri, Volume 2, chpt. 167 ) confirms the facts that these Gujjar territories were later ruled the Seesodias, the clan to Sanga belonged. See the text from the book:
In the vicinity of Mórá and Mangréj is a state called Pal through which runs the river Mahendri towards the Gujarát side. It has a separate ruler who resides at Dúngarpúr. On the Málwah side is Bánswálah (Bánswára) and that too has a separate chief. Each of them has a force of 5,000 horse and 10,000 foot, and both are of the Sesódiah clan. The rulers were of the Ráná's family, but for some time past it has been otherwise

Some of the Gujjar Gotras are much older than the formation of Gujjar Pratihar Empire. These are following: 1. Kushana ( Kushan Emperors). 2. Poshwal. ( Kings of Purushpur, i,e,. present day Peshawar. 3. Kapisia. ( The rulers of kapisa, ( kabul). 4. Khatana ( The Rulers of Khotan).
Here is a 2nd. or 3rd. century historical record of Khatana Vijay Singh, the ruler of Afghanistan that time.
The first concrete evidence of an Iranian presence in the country is found in a document probably of the 3rd century, discovered by M. A. Stein at the site of Endere (facsimile in Stein, 1921, pl. xxxviii; transcription in Boyer and Senart, p. 249; tr. 1940, p. 137; cf. Emmerick, 1979, p. 168 and n. 7). It was written in a local Middle Indian dialect in Kharoṣṭhî script by Khotana maharaya rayatiraya hinajha Vij’ida Siṃha “General Vijida Simha, great king, king of kings of Khotan” in his tenth chuna (< Khot. kṣuṇa) “regnal year.” The Khotanese title hînâysa (pronounced hînâza, lit. “army leader”) is also attested in much later indigenous texts.

Pundir Gotra of Gujjars: Pundir is branch of Dhama ( Dahima Gotra) and Dahima is branch of Kohli Gotra of Gujjars. Kohli were rulers of Kol region as fuedatory of Gujjar Pratihar Empire. Dahima were fuedatory kings of Gujjar Chauhans till the time of Prithvi Raj Chauhan. Pundir was the brother in law of Prithvi Ral Chauhan of Dahima Gotra and his descendents are called as Pundirs. The Gujjar Chauhans settled in western UP after the fall of Prithvi Raj Chauhan. Hari Raj the real brother of Prithviraj Chauhan ( both were son of Somraj and were born in Gujarat Patan at place of their maternal uncle, the Gujjar Samrat Kumar Pal Solanki ). When Hariraj driven out a Gola from Ajmer, Kutubidin Aibak again came with larger forces and defeated Hariraj. Hariraj after this defeat entered in to a burning pyre and his descendents came to western UP, the stronghold of Gujjar Parmars. Pundirs also came along with them. See the following link about Gujjar Pundirs. 210.212.78.56/ceinfo/dehradun/English/history.html
Dehradun was looted by Gurjars in 1772. The then king, Lalit Shah, a descendant of Prithvipati Shah, married off his daughter to a Gurjar - Gulab Singh Pundir to appease the plunderers. He gave Gulab Singh a gift of 12 villages which Gulab Singh and his son controlled. In fact, Gulab Singh's descendents can still be found in the city.

Hi Ashok, Today I was seeing the Gotras of Gujjars to find them in History books but surprisingly you here the most prominent Gotra of Padihar is missing. The Sanskrit equivalent word of Pratihar is used in the History. Though this gotrs is divided in to many sub-gotrs but it is still used by the Gujjars in Chambal Valley and in Rajasthan.
The most notorious dacoit Mohar Singh turned politician in Bhind area is a Padiahr Gujjar. Tough this is MP today but it is very close to Kannauj ( in UP).
The Padihar Gujjars ruled during Gujjar Kushan Empire as the rulers of Potohar ( Pratihar) region in present day Pakistan.
Bajjad ruled the Bajaur and Nagara Gujjars ruled the Nangarhar region.
Adhana Gujjars ruled ( Odiyana, Udyanpur) region under the Great Kushans.
The Ahirs ( Not a Gujjar tribe but associated with the Kushan Empire) ruled the Herat ( Ahirat) region in present day Afghanistan.
Mathura was one of the centre of learning during the Great Kushans Empire and that is period Ahirs, Kushans (Gujjar), Adhanas ( Gujjar clan ,rulers of Odiyana) , Nagar ( Gujjar clan rulers of Nangarhar), and Bajjad ( rulers of Bajaur) are found in great numbers in and around Mathura region.
The Great Kushans are also known as Ku-ju-la Kasphasis ( transliteration is Greek). Here Ku-ju-la in actual is Gurjara. Huen-Tsang has used Ku-Che-lo for Gurjara around three hundred years later for Ku-Ju-La (i,i,. for Gurjara).
