The Gujjars of Vania Gotra were the rulers of Bania near Mansura during the days of Gurjjar Pratihar Empire. See the historical reference of the place. This was the place where the Arab armies used to seek shelter behind the Sun Temple to save their lives from Gujjar armies till 954 AD.
NUZHATU-L MUSHTAK OF AL IDRÍSÍ.
Bánía is a little town. The inhabitants are of mixed blood and are rich. Living here is cheap and agreeable. From Bánía to Mansúra, three days, to Mámhal six, to Debal two. From hence to Mámhal and Kambáya the country is nothing but a marine strand, without habitations and almost without water; consequently, it is impassable for travellers

hi deepak ji i think yadav are not gurjars yadav (ahir) & thakur are different from gurjars so pls dont mix all caste No Puneet its not that. There are many Yadav Gurjars in eastern Bihar, southern Up and madhya Pradesh. Thakurs is also a Gurjar surname. In fact All of the thakurs we find today have actually taken this word from a Gurjar surname "Thakar" (pronounced as Thaa-Kar in north India and Thakre in south & central India). Example :Bala Sahab Thakre (I am not sure If he is a Gujjar or not, but Thakars and Thakres are Gurjars for sure). Regards Ashok Harsana

Origin of Padihara Gotra of Gujjars:
The Padihara (Pratihara), Nagara and Bajjad Gotra are the same, i,e,. Nagara and Padihara are the branches of Bajjad Gotra ( Mentioned and Varajjara in Gwalior inscription).
Nangarhar was the capital as well as sub region of Bajaur state. Potohar was another sub region of Bajaur. The original meaning of the all these words are as follows:
1. Vajra+ Raja= Varrajjara, i,e, the king of Vajra Vihara, which is present day Bajaur in Pakistan. 2. Nagarahar+Raja= Nagara, i,e, the king of Nagara Vihara , which is is present day Nagarhar in Afghanistan. 3. Potahar+ Raja= Potahar ( Sanskrit, Pratihar). The rulers of Potohar region in present day Pakistan.
The regions ruled by them in Gujarat ( Present day these area are divided in MP, Rajasthan and Gujarat in present day India were Vagad and the capital at Nagda ( Udaipur). The points to be noted that the Capital name is same as Nagda similar to Nagarhar and the region is Vagad as Bajaur. Also these areas are similar to Bajaur and Nagarhar ahving both the plains, the hills as well as the lakes.
Nagabhatta I must have defeated the Arab armies in Nagda hills only. The Last ruler of this clan was Udai Singh Nagari ( Read Babarnama) who advanced to Khanwa with 12,000 of his cavaliers to fight the Babar and sacrificed his life.
[b]The biggest historical blunders of Indian History is that the Nagara branch of Gujjars are associated with Nagas.
"Dr. Jaiswal, mentioned that the Guptas were oroginally fuedatories of Bharashiva who was Naga. He said the Nagas defeated Kushanas and drove them away. He did not know that it was Nagara rule, to whom the Guptas were the fuedatory and Nagara was a branch of Gujjar Kushanas."
The second blunder mistake ( seams to be deliberate) by Mr. Vaidya. In Gwalior inscription it is mentioned that when The Great Bhoja went out for Tri-lok Vijajya he appointed Jaybhatta Nagara of Varajjara family. Mr. Vaiday has written that there is no such tribe and Nagara has to be Brahmins. I have already given the links in my earlier posts regarding the Udaipur State of Nagara Gujjars. The same Nagara Branch of Gujjars founded the Parikshat Garh state in association with Marathas when the Mughals went weak. This fort was dismantled and converted into a police station by the britishers in 1857 in retaliation when the Gujjars of Delhi demilished Metcalfe house in Delhi, which was power centre of Britishers that time in north India.
That is how the

I would request all the Gujjar Brothers to write something about their Gotra. I am particlularly looking for the names of Public representatives ( like MLAs MPS etc.) and their Gotra from India, Pakistan and Afghanistan of the following Gujjars Clans: 1. Kasasa As per the chinese records these were the 5 main branches of Gujjars some 2000 years ago. 2. Khatana 3. Bokkan 4. Chechi ( Cherchan) 5. Hun ( Hao Tun). I am told that Bidhuri and Huns does not marrry among themselves and that shows that they are from the same Yagbu ( Princely) branch of Gurjars ( The Yuechi). Also for Gujjar Pratihar Pratihar period I am looking the names of the people belonging to the following clans:
1. Pratihar, Nagara, Bajjad and Parmar ( They seems to of same Yagbu ( Princely ) Branch of the Gujjar Emperors of Kasana Era. 2. Chauhan, Solanki, Chaprana ( Dahlia is a branch of it), Chandila,Bainsla, Bhumbla ( The rulers of Bhumli ( Bhutalambika)in Gujarat), Dor, Tanwar,Gorsi, Kapisia etc.
Thanks and regards.

Origin of Gujjars: many Indian historians has written that Gujjars are from Shaka stock. That is not true. The Gujjars ( The yuechis defeated the Shakasa) and employed them among their armies as Khastrapas. There is a Kharosti records where some Shaka prince has stolen or taken two cows from a Buddhist Temple. The Intelligence report ( tranlated from Kharosti) sent a Khatana prince of Khotan of Kushana Emperors that one cow was eaten by the Shaka and the other was retuned before the arrival of Kasana army. Hence the Gujjars and Jats can not be anything but Shakas l since they are mostly vegetarians, leave aside killing the cows.

Thanks for this valuable post AP Singh Ji, First of all A very very Happy Diwali to u and ur family.
You r right to state that Gujjars cannot be from Shaka origin, but the same thing can not be said about Jaats. Jaats and Gujjar (though they share same gotras and culture) are totally different by origin. Gujjars, Ahirs and Rajputs have one and the same origin.
Jaats (messa - gatea or the Big jatta) had a very common custom of eating their dead relatives. This was the only reason that they were not regarded as kshatriyas by hindu Brahmins (as late as 17th century).
Messa gateas can not be confused with yuezhis (Tokhrians). Jatts can be from the Shaka (sycthian) stock for sure.
But as we know history has many secrets and faacts, so I request you to put some more points that can prove that Jats were not Sycthians. We might come to know that how a few Jat clans joined Gujjar armies and were later called Gujjars. We might also notice that though most of the Gujjars were made from yuezhis, a few clans might had come from Shakas, Rourans, turks, Khazars etc.
Thanx and regards

And as per my research about Gujjar clans, Chehci or Chenchi (naikade) or Yuezhi was the first clan of Gujjars. Then they were divided (or absorbed few marshal clans) into five subclans namely: Chechi, Kasana, Gorsi, Bergat and ?. Then the Kasanas being the supreme power and largest clan were divided among other subclans namely, Khatana, huns, Naagar, Amawat, khokhar (Chhokar), Mavai, Parmars, Awane, Chapotkat and Maitrik etc. The huns became the most powerful and captured all over north India and were divided into Chauhans (Chu-han or Chu-khan khan and han was interchangeable), Tanwars or Tomars (Tour-han, Torman or Turram-khan or Tomar-han). Then their joint forcesof Huns under Tomars and chauhans (Who were in regular conflict since 5th century) herled back the Islamic force from Arab. This joint formation was called pratihars (literally the defender of frontier). Tomars ruled this group (Nagbhatta being a Tomar by gotra) as the royal pratihars. The ruling family of Pratihars hailed from Salumbar (a place in Rajatshan) giving them a name Salumbre (we have a gotra named Salumbre or Lumbre). The name Mihir Bhoja clears their connection to the Tomar han family (named after Tomaran's son Mihir Gul). Their deep concern for the tomars ruling delhi was also very clear. They always favoured Tomars over Chauhans during the coonflict b/w these two clans. The inscriptions of later partihars also show clearly that they were Tomars.
