These parthavas got their name after the Legendery pandav Warrior Arjuna (Who was called Partha by Sri Krisna). Thats the reason the Tomars claim descent from Pandavs and are consider themselves as Chandravanshi, (A Lunar race). Dear Ashok,
Arjun married Subhadra who was his own sister, the daughter of his maternal uncle. Krishna was his cousin brother as well as brother in law ( Sala).
To the best of my knowledge, since days of written history of India, including the Gujjar Kushan days, the Gujjar avoided four gotras in arranged marriages and this kind of marriages are not possible among Gujjars. Since you have very good knowledge of Gujjjar Tanwars, would you please provide some information regarding this custom among Tanwars and thus Pratihars. This custom was prevalent among Yadus and Pandavas and later among Rashtrakuts. I have gathered evidence about rashtrakuts about this custom where many rulers among them were cousin brother and sala/jeeja ( Brother in law) to each other.
Rashtrakuts claimed that they were descendent of Krishana and in south India this custom is still prevalent in many communities including and Brahmins.Regards.
