Recently I read a news about Nomad Gujjar Migartion which is pasted below. I was curious to know when this tradition of Gujjar migration started. To the best of my knowledge and analysis this tradition goes back to the Great Era of Gusura (Gujjar) Kushan ( Kasana) Empire.
As is well known that Gujjars during the days of Great Kaniska had three capitals of their Empire.
1. Peshawar ( Main Capital)
2. Mathura ( Winter capital)
3. Samarkand (Located in present day uzbekistan was the summer capital).
The Gujjar Kasana Emperors used to shift their capitals every year depending upon the seasons and the same tradition of their Great ancestors is being followed by the Nomad Gujjar even today.

Jammu, Mar 28: The Gujjar and Bakerwal tribes have started their bi-annual seasonal migrations towards upper reaches of Shivalik, Pirpanchal and Trikuta hills of Himalaya one month ahead of their routine schedule, due to unusual rise in daily temperature.
“These nomadic tribes have pre-poned their seasonal migration after 29-years due to abnormal weather conditions as dry March has caused maximum temperature to rise above normal level by eight to 12 degrees,” officials said.
A hand out of Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation, an organization working for Gujjars, said in normal circumstances the nomadic Gujjars and Bakerwals who reside in plains during winters starts their seasonal migration towards Himalayas around or after third week of April every year. However, this year due to unusual increase in temperature they were compelled to prepone their onward journey by one month.
According to Dr Javaid Rahi, Secretary of the Foundation, this natural pre-ponement of seasonal nomadic migrations would badly hit the economy of these tribes and their social set-up.
“Nomads will have to face brunt of heat during migration process and will also have to fight against acute shortage of fodder in upper areas,” he added.
According to oral history of tribal Gujjars, the nomads had to face the similar weather conditions way back in 1979 when they had preponed upper migration by one month.
