Politics and caste go hand in hand in west UP . All major parties give the ticket of MLA or MP to that caste which is the most dominant and influential in that constituency.

I am listing the caste wise MP, MLA and MLC in the Upper Doab Region of West UP and Uttarakhand

1.Saharanpur - Jagdish Rana - BSP - Thakur - won because of total Gurjar Support in Saharanpur by Chaudhary Yaspal Singh (TITRON)
2.Kairana - Tabasum Hassan Chauhan - BSP - GURJAR - this seat has become a GURJAR seat now
3.Muzaffarnagar - Kadir Rana - BSP - Muslim Rajput
4.Bijnore - Sanjay Singh Chauhan - RLD - GURJAR - Gurjar are 3 Lac in this seat
5.Meerut - Rajendra Agarwal - BJP - Bania. Malook Nagar Gurjar lost from here

Gurjar MLA can be more from the coming 2012 elections as Harora, Jansath, Siwalkhas and Jewar seats have been made general seats due to delimitation. Also new seat of Noida and Loni have been added and these are also GURJAR Dominant.


These are 42 seats in UP and 9 seats in Uttarakhand = Total 51

Out of these 51 seats
GURJAR have - 9
SC have - 11
Muslim have - 10
Jat have - 8


rest other caste are Thakur - 2, Lodh - 1, Tyagi - 2, Pandit - 3, Bania - 3, Saini - 1

Gurjar caste is now the most important factor in Upper Doab Region of UP and no major party can ignore GURJAR.

I have done a similar analysis of all the 134 MLA seats of west UP ( Proposed Harit Pradesh) and the west UP can be divided into areas according to commissionaries.

There are 5 Commissionaries in west UP

1.Saharanpur Commissionary- it has the districts of Saharanpur and Muzaffarnagar. The dominant caste here are Gurjar and Jat

The Caste wise MLA here are
Gurjar - 3
Jat -3
SC-4
Pal- 1
Baniya - 1
Muslim-2
Pandit - 1
Saini -1

2. Meerut Commissionary- It has the districts of Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Noida, Bulandshahr. The dominant caste here are Gurjar, Jat and Muslim.

Baniya - 1
Muslim- 4

3. Aligarh Commissionary - These area is part of the Middle Doab and less fertile than Upper Doab region. The districts here are Aligarh, Hathras, Etah and Kashiramnagar.The dominant caste here are Thakur ,Jat, Lodh and Muslim

4.Agra Commissionary- This has the Districts of Agra, Mathura, Firozabad and Mainpuri. The dominant caste here are Thakur and Yadav

5. Moradabad Commissionary- This is part of the Rohilkhand region and this area has the maximum Muslim Population in west UP and district after district has more than 50 % population of muslim in both rural and urban area. The only dominant caste here is the Muslim.

6.Bareilly Commissionary- This has the districts of Bareilly, Badaun, Pilibhit and Shahjahanpur. The dominant caste here are Muslim, Yadav and Kurmi.

SO many times we have heard that west UP is referred to as the Jatland or Yadav land but actually we see that these caste have no more than 14 or 15 MLA.

Actually in whole of UP there are only 14 MLA and west UP is also not jatland or yadav land but actually it has max 28 MLA from Muslim

Gurjar are present in all the 6 commissionaries above in west UP but the most political active and dominant are the Gurjars of the Meerut and Saharanpur Commissionary.

With the new delimitation Gurjar can expect to win 10-12 MLA seats in UP and are a major dominant force . But to date there is not a single Gurjar leader who has a all UP image.

Castes like Jat have Ajit Singh - 14 MLA Jat in whole UP
Yadav Have Mulayam Singh - 10 MLA in west UP although Yadav are found in whole of UP
Thakur have Rajnath Singh, Amar Singh etc
But Gurjar have whom ??

Sachin Pilot is from Noida but he has made Rajasthan is political area

Gurjar from UP are economically are very good compared to other states . Most of the Gurjars are in service also and the land they till is very fertile but the Gurjar of UP must produce a national level leader once again after Rajesh Pilot and Ram Chandra Vikal (Bokken) - the First Gurjar MLA from UP
