Will any body tell the Gotra of Great Maulana Shah Abdul Qadir57. He must be of Khatana Gotra as they are reffered as Shahi Khatana is the Imperial Gujjar History. Shahi of Indian History were called Shahi Khatanas among the GujjarImperials and Shahis by others.
The remaining Muhammadan population consisted of a fraternity of Gujars, Saiyeds, the old land proprietors of Ludhiana, and the lower strata of the society like butchers, petty traders, and discharged servants and camp followers, who infested all old British cantonments. They had been worked up to a high pitch of excitement and anti- British feeling by the great Maulana Shah Abdul Qadir57. “He had twice roused the whole of the Mahomedan population to the very verge of an outbreak ; his influence extended to all classes. He was respected by many of the Afghan Shahzadahs with one of who, (Sufder Jung) he was in league, and with the inferior classes he was all-powerful. His influence also extended far through the district, as he is by origin a Goojur, a numerous race all along the lowlands bordering on the Sutlej………… On the arrival of the mutineers he collected all his disciples, hoisted the green ensign of his faith, and led them to Delhi.58”
57. G.H.M. Ricketts, the then Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, writes about Shah Abdul Qadir as under :-
“He was a compulsory resident of Loodiana, as in 1849 he was detected in treasonable correspondence with the Akhoond of Swat, whom he was secretly furnishing with arms. So to be under closer surveillance he was compelled to remain in the city………………….”.
(Punjab Government Records, Vol. VIII, Mutiny Reports, Part I, pp. 94-95).

Meelu Gotra among Gujjars:[ Meelu, Mohil, Mohilu is all the same and is one of the branch of Gujjar Chauhans. Gujjar Chauhans alongwith Gujjar tanwars ( also called Tuar, Toor, Tomar etc.), Gujjar Solankis, Gujjar Parmars, Gujjar Chandellas, Gujjar Bahtti were prominent fuedatories of Gujjar Pratihar Empire.s/b]
Multan, a city in present day Pakistan, was the power centre of Mohil branch of Gujjar Chauhans from 6th. century to 10th. century and is named Mohil-sthan and hence Multan after this celebrated Meelu gotra of Gujjars.

Dear Deepak, Dor is the actual Gotra. Dode, Dodhi,Dedhe, Dedhar are all the different pronunciation of the same gotra. I am working to find some authentic information about it and let you know accordingly. Presently I found something very authentic information about Gor gotra of Gujjars. The Gor Gujjars were the Ranas of Gormandal, a place near to Ajmer. This could also be branch of Gujjar Chauhan like Chechi and Mohils. When the Gors were sent to Afghanistan alongwith the armies of Nagabhatta the Great, the Grand father of Gujjar Samrat Mihir Bhoja Mahan, they found new kingdom at Gor and Gor was given to Chauhans, to their own kins to rule who moved there from Sakambri, the place of their original abode. Later they were converted to Islam and Muhammad Ghori could also be Gujjar. That could be the reason of the trust and cooperation of Prithvi Raj Chuahan to allow Ghori to pass through his kingdom to invade on Solanki Gujjars of Patan and Ghori was defeated by Gujjar Solanis many times. These Gor Gujjars were also called Gor Singh and hence Gorsi.

Dear Deepak, The Gujjars are said to be direct descendents of Rama. The Leva (Lor) branch is said to be the descendents of Lov and Khari are said to be the desecendents of younger son Kusha. All other Gujjars gotrs are sub branches of these two trees. In the 9th. century records the Gujjar Pratihars are said to be the direct descendents of Laxman and they also have many sub branches. In that case Dode, Dor, Dedhe must be one of the branch of Gujjar Pratihars. Regarding Rajputs, I have read lot of books and could not find this word anywhere in original records. Ferrista in first Muslim schlar who has written something about their origin and you may direct buy his books and read about them, in case you are intrested to know more about them. For this matter you can not trust English translators for this purpose since they have inserted Rajput word everywhere they wished ( For example Babarnama, Babar has not used this word but in English translation it is inserted), to serve their own purpose. The British regime wanted to tell every Indian that India was always ruled by outsiders and hence no Gujjar Empire existed before. Hence the Indians should no have any problem for English being as an outsider in accepting as their new masters.
