Mohar Singh is Gujjar pf Pratihar Gotra ( Called Gujjar Padihar, Padiyar today) who is an elected representative of Mehsana assembly in Chambal valley. The Gujjars who used to take the law in their hands here during Mughal and British period has now started realising that India is free now and it is their own democartic rule and that is the reason Mohar Singh surrendered along with 400 hundred of his Gang members to live and let live a peaceful life. Here I would like to clarify that the founder of Udai Pur in the Nagada valley, Udai Singh Nagari who sacrificed his life alongwith his army having 12000 cavaliers in the battle with Babar and Nagada kingdom of Gujjars came to an end.
Later Udai Singh, the father of Rana Pratap took a shelter at Udai Pur and due to strateging importance of the Nagda valley, Rana Pratap was able to challenge the might of Akbar.
It is the valley where Nagari Gujjars used to collect the taxes from the traders ,moving from Mumbai to Afghanistan route,on behalf of their Gujjar Pratihar overlords.

Please shed some light Regards Ashok Harsana Hi Ashok, I can not say about the language since Nagri, since Nagri also spoke Gojri, the language of Gujjars. However the places in Afghanistan like Nagarhara and Bajaur are certainly named after this clan of Gujjars. This place is renamed as Jalalabad later. Bajaur is a nearby place to Nagarhara in Afghanistan which is also named after the same clan who are also called Bajads. These clan must have advanced to Afghanistan along with the forces of Gurjar Pratihar Emperor Nagabhatta the Great to chase the Arab invaders and check the advance of Abbassid Empire there itself. Vagad was the area and Nadga was the capital where Nagde ( also called Bajads, Bajjars) this clan of Gujjars were given to rule. Nagada is a place having a route between the hills similar to the way the way a serpent travels ( called Naga- Raha , the Serpentine route ). This was the best place to collect the taxes because once the army of the enemy enter in to this route have not exit, except to surrender to Nagdi Gujjars, the rulers of the place acting on behalf of their Gujjar Pratihar overlords.

The Gujjars of NWFP and Afghanistan must have been one of the best armies of Gujjar Pratihar Emperors. It is this army of Gujjar Pratihars which dominated the Arabs Abbassid Empire for more than 300 hundered years. The total army size of Gujjar Pratihars is said to be 80 lakhs and 36 lakhs were the cavalry aprt out of which about 9 lakh cavalry was posted at the front of the country in pamer regions of Afghanistan. The Gujjars are freedom and justice loving people and are fighting bravely even today where others dont even dare to speak. See the following news: www.thenews.com.pk/print1.asp?id=142809 Restive valley gathering courage to raise another lashkar Friday, October 24, 2008 By by Delawar Jan PESHAWAR: Inspired by the success of the lashkars (armed force of volunteers) in the militants-infested tribal and settled areas, the once reluctant people in the militancy-shattered Swat valley are gathering courage to follow in the footsteps as another lashkar is being raised in Wenai. The terrified people of the valley were not ready to challenge the might of Maulana Fazlullah-led militants, operating for the last one year, and would like to shift all the responsibility to the government and security forces. However, after observing that the people’s support to the security forces in the troubled areas in shape of lashkars worked wonders and put the militants under pressure, they were emboldened to follow them to contribute to efforts being made for the restoration of peace. Lashkars scored a success in the volatile Bajaur Agency where they flushed out hardened of militants and burnt down their houses, also serving as a shot in the arm for military to get an upper hand against the militants. Such a lashkar also took action against the militants in Mulagori area of the restive KhyberAgency, which proved helpful in inching towards the establishment of peace. Also, such lashkars have been raised even in the hitherto peaceful areas to stop militants from penetrating there. These areas include Dir Upper, Dir Lower, Buner, Lakki Marwat and Badabher in Peshawar where the lashkars successfully fended off militants. An armed clash between the Gujjar community and Swati militants in Mandal Dag area of the Matta, the hotbed of pro-Taliban combatants, subsequent human loss to them served as an eye-opener for those who were considering the insurgents invincible and unchallengeable. Subsequently, the people of Gujjar-populated villages announced on October 10 to raise armed lashkar against the Taliban under the leadership of Pir Samiullah, a religious leader, whose abduction attempt was foiled earlier. They have taken the responsibility of security in Biha, Roringar and other surrounding areas. Since then, however, no clash has erupted between them and militants. A source having knowledge of the developments in Swat claimed most of the areas peopled by Gujjars were now conflict-free and rather peaceful. Buoyed up by this development in an area that is close to them, elders in Wenai, which serve the borderline between the militants and security forces, formed village-defence committees and decided to raise a lashkar to check the militant activities of the militants. After holding two meetings on October 16 and 19 respectively, around 350 elders of 30 villages vowed unflinchingly not to allow Taliban fighters to carry militant activities in their respective areas. A number of village-defence committee, the source said, had been formed in different areas. The strength of the committees varies from village to village. “Every committee has 50 to 350 members to keep a vigil on the militants’ activities,” the source claimed. The jirga meeting, participated among others by Karim Khan of Barabano, Bakht Muhammad of Gat, Wazir Zada, Gul Faqir of Taritang Laye, Shah Jehan of Fazl Banda, Mian Hazrat of Chuperial, Mir Hamza of Agal, Amanullah and others, demanded of the government to provide them financial and technical support to fight against the militants effectively.

Remains of Kushan City discovered near Manshera Submitted by Sahil Nagpal on Fri, 11/16/2007 - 13:24. PeshawarWorld News Peshawar, Nov 16 : A team of archaeologists led by Vice Chancellor of the Hazara University Professor Ihsan Ali has discovered the remains of one of the largest Kushan city sites in Chittar Kot, Mansehra district of the NWFP.
The site Chittar Kot is located on a high spur overlooking the Biran River, offering one of the most spectacular views of the river and the surrounding area, a press release stated.
The site is located at 34" 22.356' N and 73" 08.214' E at an elevation of 945 meters from mean sea level in a pine forest in the Mansehra district.
The site was earlier spotted by Abdul Hameed and Muhammad Ashfaq of the Hazara Cultural Museum during a survey of archaeological sites in Mansehra.
The name Chittar Kot is derived from the word Chittra meaning an umbrella or an elevated place represents a large Kushan settlement site, protected by a similar defensive structure on the west and the exposed structure spreading over a mile on the steep hill.
The strategic location of the site warranted an effective control of the surrounding area from all four directions, and thus could have been of multi-faceted defensive settlement, with far-reaching consequences for the establishment of cultural profile of Mansehra district.
It gives an unhindered view of the present settlements of Nawa-Shehr, Kherian and Bhir Khund, The News reported.
This excavation will also provide extensive material to the newly established Hazara Cultural Museum at the Hazara University and will shed new light on the people of the area living 2,000 years ago. (ANI)

HI DR AP SINGH JEE AND OTHER GUJJARS NWFP(north west frontier province) having borders with afghanistan. gujjar is the biggest tribe of the province. but unfortunately this province is famous as pathan province. there r many places which have not any other tribe but only gujjars but in the papers there is no name of gujjar at that area. dr ap singh jee i m not a historian and there is no name of gujjars in the history bcoz the historians have been made a great plunder with the gujjars everywhere. there r many innocent and poor gujjars have become member of assembly of union councils.those people hve no political background but only become members with the vote of their gujjar tribe. even many unknown gujjars which have no party tickets have defeated many ministers only gujjar votes. so i cannot tell u the history of that areas but i can tell u the present situation of those areas.which is very interesting. Dear Mazhar, The capital of the Great Gujjar Kushan was Peshawar. The name of Gujjar clan Porshwar ( called Poshwal today) is named after that city. The Poeshwal in persian means the Elephant mounted Warrior. Gaz Gahia and Peelwan gotra are the one and the same as Porshwal. The Capital of Bokan, ( Badshkhan in Uzbekistan ) and Chechi ( Present day Chechanya and Chach Khand i,e. present Tashkent) clan of Gujjars were in Central Asia. The People called as Gorz Turkman ( Not Turk but Turkman) today are of Gujjar origin. Sezluk Turks were actually Gujjars who were separated from the Gujjars of Indian side after the sassanids ( the eralier vassals of Gujjar Kishans) took over contro over Parthia. Khan is derived as from the Khand ( the ruler of Khand, i,e,. area defined by Gujjar Kushan Emperors for their fuedatory kings). Hence Khan could be Gujjar ( Called Tocharian tribe in english) or may be from Shaka origin who were also vassals of Gujjar Kasanas. The basic difference between the culture of Gujjars and Shakas were that Gujjars never married in their own Gotras whereas Shakas ( called Sythians in English) used to marry their own sisters. Also Shakas used to eat animals including cows whereas Tocharians ( The Gujjars) never done that and even today the Gujjars living in mountains are pure vegetarians irrespective of their religion. Boken and Chech is common surname name in Central Asia.

Many Gujjar Gotras like Pratihar, Nagara, Adhana, Chauhan, Parmar, Solanki, Bajjar etc. are of Gujjar Kushana Era and their area of rule was in and around NWFP area.
The Pratihars were ruler of Potohar, the Nagara were rulers of Nangarhar, the Bajjad were rulers of Bajaur, the Chauhan were rulers of Chaman, The Solnaki, the rulers of Siluka, the Adhanas were rulers of Odiyana ( Udyanpur).
IN India one branch of Gujjar Parmars in called as Khoober Parmar. This was the branch of Gujjar parmars which controlled the strategic Khyber Pass during Gujjar Kushana Empire.
Yograj Singh, a Great Warrior of 7'8" height and great Built who drove the Taimur away from Haridwar region was from Khubbar branch of Gujjar Parmars.
Present MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh , who was hand holding champion in India is also from the same clan of Gujjar.

As per the Buddhist records the Karashar is called Agnidesa. In India the Pratihars ( Nagara and Bajjad are the sub branch of it or the Pratihars is the sub branch of Nagara or Bajjad), these are called as Agni Kula. The Agni Kula ( Fire born) is a theory given by the bards who ignorant of History of Gujjars.
Similarly the Kushans and the descendents of Kush, the younger son of lord Rama. Like the sons of Brahma are called Brahmans, the sons of Kush were called Kushans. The son of Loh, the other son of lord Rama were called as Leva, which is also a branch of Gujjars, consisting many Gotras.
The Gujjars protected all the religions including Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism etc. That is why among all the societies they were recorded by Persian and Arab historians as the highest caste of india as all the rulers before 10th. century belonged to them.
