The Descendents of Rana Pratap claim that the first Ruler of their clan was Kanaksen. This Kanaksen is nothing but Great Gujjar Kushana Emperor Kanishka.
They also claim that they are descendents of lord Rama. That is also true since Kanishka was from Kushana Gotra of Gujjars, who are said to be descendents of Kush, the son of lord Rama.
Col Todd. has also confirmed that they are from Gujjar stock.
So the stories of bards of Agnikula and Kanaksen are true but the historians failed to link ( unfortunately sometimes deliberately) the palces and the rulers to the stories of the Bards.
The 9th. Century inscriptions the Gujjar Pratihars are recorded as Raghu-Kulin, i,e, the Descendents of Raghu who was ancestor of lord Rama.
