Hi Ashok and AP bhai .. first of all congratulation fot the great work and research both of you have done... Can you give some information on one of the rare gotra of Gurjars such as Babre or Bavre or babra ... hope u will Here I may tell some facts about this gotra which may help.. .. It is known that they arrived from Ujjain 350 or 400 year back (as per recorded family tree). As far as Foreign context there are many places named or sound like this gotra from India to Pakistan,Afganistan,Iran,Iraq,Russia,Ukrain,Armainia,Turkey,Austria,Germany etc. ( similarity in name may be coincidence) and also there are people in those country who use this Gotra as surname (again similarity in name may be coincidence) If any reference to those places is needed I can give links to those pages showing location of the places. also Interestingly their was ancient powerful tribe called Bavrii in Turkey, Austria, Germany region because of this there are many places of similar names en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BavariiIf possible give some more information about this gotra , and its origin. Thanks Dear Mr. Singh, Your post shows that you are working seriously to find your roots and probably you belong to Babre cloan of Gujjars.
First of all I would emphasise that Ujjain is wrongly placed in Indian History as the original seat of Gujjar Pratihara Emperors. I strongly believe that Mount Abu and Nagda (near Udaipur) was the place where all the Gujjars assembled to form a confederation against the combine forces of Arabs and Rashtrakuts. This was necessitated beacuse the other similar confederation of Gujjars under the leadership of Siluk ( The Gujjar Solanki King) was deafeated by the Arabs and Vallamandla region ( Present day Gujarat, part of Mahrashtra and Karnatake)of Gujjar Empire was taken and given to Rashtrakuts, the earstwhile vassals of Gujjars and newly found ally of Arab invaders.
The Arabs were defeated by this new Gujjar confederation under the leadership of Nagabhatta of Pratihar Gotra of Gujjars in Nagda Valley which start from present day Udaipur and end at Ujjain. In That case Byawar in Rajasthan must be the kingdom ruled by Babar Gujjars. Your 350-400 years of arrival to western UP correspond to to invasion of Babar and that time Babre Gujjar warriors must have come to Khanwa to fight the invader, where all the forces under the Hindu confederation were defeated. The Brahmins of babre Gujjars having the same gotra must have moved to Maharashtra region.
The Byawar in Rajasthan is the place which your ancestors must have ruled during Gujjar Pratihar Empire. To find your roots back to the Gujjar Kushan Empire you must search the old names of all the places from Peshawar to present day Georgia on both side of silk road and exclude the other places which are just coincidence and you may not be able to find and historical evidence to support the claim. Peshawar was the main capital of Gujjar Kushanas and it means Purushwar which is persion word and translates to Elephant Mounted Warriors. Probably elephant Peshawar the centre of regiment of Elephant mounted warriors under Gujjar Kasana's and Poshwar gotra is originated from that place as the rulers of Peshawar. My sister in law belong to Babre Gotra of Gujjars as my Elder brother is married in that family. Regards. AP Singh

Thanks for the reply brother, Yes my clan is Babre , strangely now and then I come across some rare gotra of Gurjars which made me curious about them. I don't know about Byawar , but there is place in Rajisthan which is completely inhabited by this gotra Gurjars( told by a Gurjar of this clan meet once in journay he was from that place I have forget the name of that place as it has been long time.) and also a large number of Jat of this gotra are in Rajisthan and Punjab ( Strange!!!)
Good to know about your family relation with Babre Gurjar ,normally Gurjars of this gotra are not easy to find outside there area ( this is may they use Singh and Chowdhary as there surname not their gotra), and also on internet there generally mention of Babre Jat ( how come ??)
I am still curious is any other mention of them in history, as per our family tree it end to a person who was from Ujjain .No other reference is yet found other than that. You may be right with some connection with area around Pakistan and Afganishtan, as normally people of this clan as many I have seen looks quite smilar to Afgani or Irani people. I am curious of there orgin and origin of name and mention in history .. help is needed.
I will post some location of some places. Thanks again.

Dear Mr. Singh, Please find the link about Beawar in Rajasthan as follows: Beawar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Beawar (or Nayanagar) is a town in the Rajasthan state of India. It is a small but prosperous ... Beawar is well known and famous for the sweet "tilpatti". ... History - Education - Culture - Geography en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beawar - Cached - Similar Please note that it is place on the Ahmedabad highway from one route goes to Gujarat and other goes to Malwa via Udaipur. It was part of Bagar region earlier and I have given historical references in many of my post that Rawal Udai Singh Nagari advanced to Khanwa and sacrificed his life in the battle of Khanwa with Babar. The following Gujjars sacrificed their life and their kingdoms in that battle:- 1. Udai Singh Nagari, with 12000 of his cavaliers. 2. Rana Ratan Singh Salumbar, with 4000 of cavaliers. 3. Sutar Kacchi with 4000 of his warriors. 4. Hasan Khan Mewati, with 30000, of his cavaliers. Also please note that Jodhpur and Jaipur states were not there at all since no contribution in this fight is mentioned about them in Babarnama in that battle from either side. Udaipur ( Nagda), Mewat, Bagad ( includin Beawar), Salambar, Kuchha were ruled by Gujjar even up to the invasion of Babar. The later history of new vassals of Mugals and British Empires of all these places connecting them to the earlier rulers i, e, pre-Mughal era are fake and fabricated. You have sighted many places similarly looking like babre but to find the epigraphic evidence I would suggest you to read the following:- 1. The Buddhist literature and contemprary rulers of Kushana Era. 2. Reasearch papers of Sir Aurel Stein and his findings in Chinese Turkistan and on Silk Road. I hope you will ceratinly find the origin of your Gotra to one of the main branch of Gujjars, i,e, The Kushans, Khatanas, Bokkans,Chechan or Chechi and Haotun or Hun ( White Huns or Ephthalites). In Western UP your warrior ancestors must have certainly come either independently or along the forces of one of the above Gujjar warriors to fight the invading forces of Babar.
