Dear Azeem, We have also Munnan or Mundan in our village and there is a sizable population of Munnans in western UP. There are two Gujjar Sikh villages in Meerut District having exclusively Munnan population.
Munnans here also use the surname Parmar which makes it a branch of Parmars. I have already written about Gujjar Parmars a lot. The Gujjar Parmars were the rulers of Pamer region during the Gujjar Kasana Empire. Here one branch of such Parmars is called as Khubber Parmar. (derived from the Parmar rulers of Khyber pass, which at one opens at Pamer region). Jograj Singh Parmar, a 22 year old Warrior of 7'8" height and heavy weight wrestler who drove Taimur Lang ( Langda) out from Haridwar in 1398AD belonged to this celebrated Khubber branch of Gujjar Parmars.
The partition of our country and thus of Gujjars,I believe, was the most unfortunate part of our history. It may be noticed from the fact that both the Gujjar Nishane Haider, Major Aziz Bhatti and Major Tufail Haider ( a Bajjad Gujjar) of Pakistan were born in India and Hero of 1971 war and Indian film Border Major Kuldeep Singh Chadpuri ( a Meelu Gujjar and Now retired Brigadier) was born on Montgomery in undivided India. In fact we were fighting with our own brothers and it should the matter of prime concern and responsibilty of both side of the leadership in future to ensure peace and co-operation between both the countries.

Dear Azeem, Please see the following link. Mundan Parmars should have been rulers of Mandu region in present day MP of India during the Gujjar Pratihar Empire.
This region was ruled by Gujjar Parmars and Bhoja Parmar ( not to be confused with the Great Bhoja or Gurjar Samart Mihir Bhoja Mahan) was the prominent ruler of Dhara which is also located in this area.
See the link below about Mandu fort:
Mandu City of Joy | Mandu City Travel Guide | Mandu Tourism ...Mandu can be best described as a hill-fort, teeming with architecture and possibility. In the 10th century, it was a part of Kannauj's Gurjar-Pratihar ...

Dear AP Singh & Ashok ! Please clear that Munnan/Mundan/Monan are same or not. I read in your post that Parmars were the off shoots of Chap Gujjar Dynasty which itself was was an off shoot of Chuhan clan. but Rana Ali Hassan chuhan wrote in his book that Munnan/Mundan is the race of Raja Mond Rai (879 to 911) who was from Bhattia/Bhaati/Bhatti family. His appellation was "RAWAL". His children was knows as Mondan/Mundan Rawal. Rana Ali Hassan claimed that this generation is known as "MONAN" AP G ! My grandfather told me that we are the race of "JUG DEV" I read about two persons (1) Jug dev of Dhara Nagri in the period of Sudhe Raj (Ruler of Gujrat) (2) Jug Dev ruler of Kashmir (1190 to 1204)
Please explain ........
With Regards

With Regards Azeem Gujjar Faisalabad There might be some confusion regarding the actual origin of Mundans. But Munnan, Moondan, Monan, Mondan etc are one and the same. In my opinion, The JugDev which you are talking about was from Dhara Nagri, madhya pradesh, as it has been the center of parmar power for a long time. Apart from that, Bhattis or Bhatis are an ancient clan of Gujjars. it was present at the time of Alexander's invasion to India. If Rana Ali Hassan chauhan has given the name Mond Rai from Bhatti family then it can be considered as an authentic statment. But there is a catch, Panwar or parmar surname can be used by many Gujjar clans (almost 50% gujjar clans), this my Grandfather told me. I dont know if he was right but the fact is that: Pratihars, Parmars and Chalukyas (Solankis) and Chawra etc. are offshoots of Chap Gujjar clan (Chapotkats or Chapotkrishta) which was again an offshoot of Tomar Gujjars (Hepthallites or White Huns), which were related to Kushans (or in turn Offshoots of Kushans). See the following links: Jats also have a clan with this name till date www.jatland.com/home/Chapotkat www.chawra.com/chawra.aspen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapa_(Gurjara)_Dynasty
